Sugar Brown Babe Cleans Up At Grove Horse Trials Sponsored by Malones

Last weekend saw the 10th Anniversary staging of the Grove Horse Trials in Fethard, Co. Tipperary, which is an Eventing Ireland award-winning one day event. First officially held as an Eventing Ireland event in 2001 (although horse trials started at Grove in the early 1980’s), this popular event has gone from strength to strength, attracting several hundred spectators this year. Blustery showers didn’t dampen spirits and an enthusiastic crowd watched the riders take part. Spanning a full day and featuring 260 competitors in 14 classes of all grades, the event commenced with dressage at 9am. The cross country course, designed by former Olympian Van de Vater featured some interesting new jumps this year with the last competitor taking to the course at 6.15pm.
The trials were supported by CoolmoreStud, and various other Studs and Companies, including Malones, an Irish company who manufacture a range of chemical free cleaning products. MD, Liz Waters says, “Malones were delighted to be able to be involved and thrilled that our leather cleaner was such a hit for cleaning and shining saddles and bridles. Participants loved the idea of having a natural product to use safely around animals”.
The top 3 grades on the day were:
- Advanced /CNC 2 star competition winner: Sarah Ennis on Sugar Brown Babe.
- Open / CNC 2 star competition winner: Felicity Ward on The Illusionist.
- CNC 2 Star competition winner: Ciaran Glynn on Craic.
Congratulations to all involved.
